Deputy Minister of Menkomdigi Focuses on Cybersecurity and Government Digitalization

Deputy Minister of Menkomdigi Affairs Nezar Patria Highlights Cybersecurity and Digital Transformation as Key Priorities

Deputy Minister of Menkomdigi Affairs Nezar Patria stated that the ministry will focus on several key priorities, including enhancing cybersecurity and advancing government digitalization. "There are a number of areas we are prioritizing. First and foremost is cybersecurity," Nezar said during a briefing at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs in Jakarta on Monday.

One of the programs to be implemented, according to Nezar, is ensuring that every ministry, agency, and regional government establishes a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).

This team is expected to serve as the frontline defense against the increasing number of cyberattacks. While some government institutions already have CSIRTs in place, Nezar noted that many others do not, emphasizing the need for improved cybersecurity governance. "This is what we aim to address—governance—so that we can become more resilient to future cyber threats. At the very least, we must first secure the necessary infrastructure," he added.

Additionally, digital infrastructure development is another key focus. Nezar stressed that existing connectivity should be enhanced to become "meaningful connectivity," delivering tangible benefits to society.

A robust digital ecosystem is expected to contribute to achieving the targeted economic growth of 8%, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto. "President Prabowo has tasked us with leveraging the digital ecosystem to contribute to this economic growth target of 8%," Nezar said.

Promoting Digitalization for Social Welfare Programs

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo added that the ministry would also push for digitalization in governance to ensure the accuracy of data for government social assistance programs.

Through digitalization, the government can provide direct subsidies to those in need with precision, based on accurate and verified data adhering to the principle of "by name, by address." "President Prabowo envisions breakthroughs in poverty alleviation by directly subsidizing our citizens in need. Ensuring that these benefits reach their intended recipients accurately can only be achieved through digitalization," Angga said.

Equalizing Internet Connectivity in Remote Regions

Another focus for the Deputy Ministers of Communication and Digital Affairs is achieving equitable internet connectivity in remote, frontier, and underdeveloped regions (3T areas). While internet connectivity has reached 98% of Indonesia's territory, Angga highlighted that areas such as the 3T regions and Eastern Indonesia still lack optimal internet speeds. "We aim to ensure that these communities can reap meaningful benefits from the communication networks that have been established," he remarked.

Collaborative Efforts to Achieve Goals

Regarding task allocation, Angga mentioned that he and Nezar would work collaboratively to ensure all objectives are met. "The key is to ensure that the public can fully benefit from the presence of the state. We will work hard and share responsibilities to make this happen," he concluded.
