The Directorate of Islamic Education and Pesantren at the Kemenag Affairs held a technical guidance session for 120 Formal Islamic Education (PDF) institutions, focusing on the digitalization of education in pesantren.
During this event, various speakers, including representatives from the Association of Formal Islamic Education (ASPENDIF) and the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, delivered presentations on the importance of transparency in managing assistance programs.
The Education Management Information System (EMIS) team also discussed governance in pesantren education data. The Director of Islamic Education and Pesantren, Basnang Said, stated that the goal of digitalization is to enable pesantren to keep pace with technological advancements. "The digitalization efforts we are pursuing must adapt to developments in science and technology," Basnang emphasized in an official statement on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
Additionally, the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Islamic Education and Ma’had Aly, Mahrus, highlighted that digitalization supports the efficiency of education data management while maintaining the traditional kitab kuning-based curriculum as the core. "Digitalization is a tool, but the essence of Islamic education is rooted in the pesantren tradition, which remains our primary focus," he explained.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs hopes that through digitalization, Islamic education will further contribute to shaping individuals with strong religious foundations and exceptional competencies. "Let us realize an education system that not only imparts knowledge but also builds strong character based on religious values," the statement concluded.
